Hi Yanela, I'm Erv
I appreciate your desire to resist temptation. When we surrender ourselves to Jesus we become new creations - see 2 Corinthians 5:17 (see http://downloadbible.godlife.com/ ).
But Jesus told us that we would have trouble in this world (John 16:33) and that means being attacked by evil. However, in 1 Corinthians 10:13 Jesus says that we will not be tempted above what we are able to bear, but with the temptation He will always provide us a way to escape. In many other verses we are told to run away from the things we know are sin (1 Corinthians 6:18; 10:14; 1 Timothy 6:11; 2 Timothy 2:22) and we are to run to Him - Hebrews 6:18.
May I suggest signing up for our 30-day devotional guide to help you build a habit of running to God - http://m.GodLife.com/connect. The Christian life was never meant to be lived with only human insight and willpower. I look forward to hearing from you, and being an encouragement to you, please write back with any prayer requests. Erv
