I am back. Writing a daily Blog is no easy thing. First, like all things, there is a level of discipline required. After my brain tumor I realize this is now a weakness for me. Second, writing is a peculiar thing. You just can't suck it up and write. There needs to be some level of inspiration prompting the writing. At least for me it is this way. Third, I am an engineer and my Real-Time Editor (RTE) is always running! There are tons of good things about that but there are drawbacks. Writing is one of them. When I start writing there is usually some time of flow happening. Like a stream of consciousness. Unfortunately Mr RTE jumps in and shouts- stop! That is not the right word to use. That grammar does not sound right. Did you spell that correctly? Are you on a *rant*? Or you going down a rathole? In this way the flow stops and it is hard to get it started again. Worse yet, even when I restart Mr RTE immediately jumps right back in. It's almost a continual wrestling match just to get my thoughts down on paper. It's like I was taught in school, just start writing and block out Mr RTE until are your thoughts are down.
Yesterday I was playing around with a cheap iPad stand. It is pretty cool and functional for its price (<$5). However, the engineer i9n me kicked in. He is similar. but a little different than Mr RTE. He jumped in and started saying- you can easily improve this. You can make it something worthwhile you can keep using. The weight balance is not optimum. You need to get the weight upfront some more. Or, a simple leg down the backside. I could see in my head a Free Body Diagram (FBD) of the Force balance and Moment balance and what optimum would look like. Then the fun part for me is to look around and see what I already have that will solve the problem. I have some MacGyver in me. There are times, usually at home, where I don't want to solve a problem "ideally" or from scratch, I want to be clever and use something I already have in a novel way. What I also like about this is that it puts my brain on alert and everything I look at my brain asks- could that be used as the solution? It really is pretty fun. I looked at on old mouse, my phone, clips, tape, boxes, a pocket knife... even a couple rocks. All had aspect that helped. Right now my smartphone seems to be working best but my mind is still on alert and I am looking for 'better.'
The reason I share all this is because of the spiritual correlation. One of the Psalms that I like is Psalm 5. Verse 3 states- n the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice: In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. Do you see the last part? There is the correlation...
