Highlights
- I would just say- the fruit of the Spirit is ALOHA!
- Recall Nica* who was saved a few months ago? Now both her mother and grandmother want to come to church with her. All of them are/were Muslim. Jane has shared Chris with them all! I sort of think Jane has shared Christ with everyone in the world.
- I love my new granddaughter so much!!!
- Mazy* got accepted at Berkeley! I told her I would like to introduce her to the ISI ministry on that campus and she was excited that we had one there and that she could stay connected to us. She is also Muslim.
- We have 2 new students on staff. One is a summer intern and one is full-time. This is great. Both of them are going to lead the weekly meetings this summer that focus more on those that have become Christians and helping them grow in Christ.
- Bert* opening up to us all in our last Talk Time (see below)
- The Warriors dominating the Rockets in Game 1. A team that was put together to specifically beat the Warriors
- I am submitting my Annual Performance Review today. Pray I don't get a 'Slower than.' ;)
- Not sure this a lowlight. God knows. I have decided that Megan* and Jared* have gone asymptotic to Christ. They just finished their Farsi class on 'What is a Christian?' Of the 7 that attended the series 5 have accepted Christ. Megan* and Jared* have not. I really thought this would answer all their questions and they would finally come into Jesus' arms.
- I don't have clarity yet where to put my ministry efforts this summer. The all-area IStudents? Just the FLC students? Both?
Bert* opened up in our last Talk Time for the year. He talked about why he checked himself into an orphanage when he was 9-years old. He talked about the divide between him and his parents. He talked about his orphanage experience. He then told us he was going to Israel this year with Young Life. I asked how he got involved with Young life. His answer was a beautiful story of how God seeks us. Though sad, he talked about a Christian who came to live in his poor city and would come to visit the orphanage daily, in stark contrast to the others who came occasionally ‘only to make themselves feel good about themselves.’ Eventually he learned to trust this man, had lunch with him and then he invited him to Young Life. He went and liked it. He even told me that they offered him a paid trip to visit Israel this summer, which he accepted. I told him I was involved in Young Life in high school, as well. I asked him- are you a Christian? He said- no, not yet. I suggested to him that he look at why he met the man in Mexico, got involved with Young Life, got selected to go to Israel for free, met me and Jane who are trying to do the exact same thing as the man in Mexico. Because of Christ. I told him- can you see how God is reaching out to you? All you need to do is reach back. You can trust Him, His love, His salvation. He is your Father.
Prayer Requests
- That Bert* would get saved! Maybe even when he is in Israel with Young Life this summer.
- Jane and I will be at the ISI National Conference June 23-27 in COS. All Campus Staff from ISI will be there with many great speakers and workshops. Pray that God will speak to us all and help us know how to reach more Istudents and equip them properly to bring back the gospel to their home countries.
- God will let Jerry and I know if we are hearing His voice correctly. If so, He would give us spiritual insight into what the saved Istudents need most right now. That He will help us prepare and present the material in a pleasing and exciting manner to them. I firmly believe we can enjoy our study of God's word even more than a Warriors game. <<Ongoing. We met and agreed there is a need for more advanced discipleship with the all-area Istudents. I don't drive as much after my tumor so not sure if I can drive to West Sac all summer and meet with them all>>
- Continue to pray for Megan*, her husband Jared* and their teenage son Shawn*. They just seem so close now to praying to receive Christ. I think it would be wonderful if the whole family accepts Christ at the same time :) <<Ongoing. See Lowlight above. Don't want them to stay asymptotic for too long!>>
- I will be at our All West Regional Retreat (ISI) April 8-10. I am there only to connect to God and His people. Just pray that for me. <<Done. I did connect with the Lord and was refreshed in Him. I had a wonderful time with my peers. They are truly godly people. It seeps out of their pores>>
- God would help us to end this year well (1 more month). That we can continue to have a strong group with our new class of Istudents. We are losing 3 of our key Istudents from the last 2 years as they are graduating. <<Done. Bert* opening up was huge. Graduation party planning in process>>
- God would continue to work in the hearts of all the FLC Istudents that are drawn to us! <<Ongoing>>
- For Ana* and Zoey*. Like Megan* that God would start drawing them to Himself and making them aware of their need for Him. <<Ongoing. That Ana* and Zoey* will come back. I know they want to>>
- That we can find ways to accommodate each students busy schedule. They want to be at Talk Time and come to our events but they take their classes extremely serious. <<Ongoing. For the next semester>>
- I am still unsure if I should restart Talk Time at RCC. <<Ug. Next year?>>
Admonition
“He is not a mere mortal like me that I might answer him, that we might confront each other in court. If only there were someone to mediate between us, someone to bring us together, someone to remove God’s rod from me, so that his terror would frighten me no more. Then I would speak up without fear of him, but as it now stands with me, I cannot." <pic> - Job 9:32-35
