Highlights
- Rosie* has given her life to Christ!!! Rosie* is the mother of Nica* who accepted the Lord about 6 months ago. Reminds me of the verse in Acts 16:31. I don't believe it means that our entire family will be saved if we accept Christ, that would contradict the rest of the Bible, but God will have many more opportunities to use us to reach our family.
- Fati* went to church with us and kayaked with Jane yesterday. Fati* is Rosie's mother and Nica's* grandmother. Can you see the trend here? ;) She loved Jesus Culture, even though her English is not very good. She wants to keep coming!
- ISI National Conference (NC) was tremendous! God gave the speakers insightful messages as well as those who led the workshops. I will summarize all my notes and link them here later today. I just love the ISI people to death. They are just such good and loving people with a heart for the lost.
- I met Dr Jack Rozell at our NC. He specializes in pastoral and missionary care. I still have issues from my frontal lobe damage that I try and not talk too much about. He told me he has had success treating others with conditions similar to mine (www.mrap.org). He extended an offer to me to come up to Kirkland and him and his team would spend 2 weeks with me and my wife, map my brain and address those areas that are not functioning properly. He works with Dr Amen who is pretty famous in treating brain damage and on PBS a lot.
- We are re-branding our International Life presence in NorCal. We have a new logo and URL for our website. In a month our ILife web portal will look much nicer and be more functional. It will also link all of our FB pages at each school. I am pretty software savvy and am enjoying working on this!
- Megan* and Jared* continue to go to church and search the scriptures to learn more about Christ. I can't wait for them to become Christians!
- My granddaughter is now crawling!
- I am feeling our FLC group is a little fragmented this summer.
Rosie* has been closely watching her daughter's new life in Christ, as has her grandmother (Fati*). Divinely coincidental is the fact that Jane and Rosie* work in the same salon :) (think about the Roman soldiers being chained to Paul when he was in prison). I guarantee you, anyone chained to Jane will get saved :) Anyway, Rosie* and Jane went on a walk together. Rosie* told Jane she was going to have surgery soon to improve some physical characteristic (which is pervasive in Iran). Jane said- if you have $ to do this that is okay but do you have something inside that is empty or you are not happy about. If so, do not do it for that reason. God made you and loves you just the way you are. After the surgery Rosie* was in lots of pain and Jane went to the hospital and anointed her and prayed for her. She also told the family that the oil was just a symbol for Jesus to come to her and help her. Jane asked Nica*, Fati* and the husband to also anoint her. Oh, I forgot. Jane and Nica* were at church and the pastor asked- does anyone here need prayer for a loved one suffering in some way? Nica* raised her hand and the church prayed for her mom. Nica* was so happy about this. Contrary to our expectations, things took a turn for the worse and Rosie* was put into ICU for 3 days. Jane went back and told Rosie*- I anointed you to ask God to help and comfort you but He can be in you always, if you want. I can pray with you and tell you how. She said- yes, yes, yes! Rosie* prayed for Jesus to come into her life for always and that is when she wrote "Only God" on her leg. Thankfully, she recovered and was removed from ICU and is now back home to live for the Lord with her daughter... and soon her mother... and, hopefully, her husband.
Prayer Requests
- That Bert* would get saved! Maybe even when he is in Israel with Young Life this summer.
- Jane and I will be at the ISI National Conference June 23-27 in COS. All Campus Staff from ISI will be there with many great speakers and workshops. Pray that God will speak to us all and help us know how to reach more Istudents and equip them properly to bring back the gospel to their home countries. <<Yes! I summarized the highlights, and how we intend to implement the learning, here>>
- God will let Jerry and I know if we are hearing His voice correctly. If so, He would give us spiritual insight into what the saved Istudents need most right now. That He will help us prepare and present the material in a pleasing and exciting manner to them. I firmly believe we can enjoy our study of God's word even more than a Warriors game. <<Ongoing. We are researching new discipleship materials, trying a 'mini Bible College' type class for the believing Istudents this summer, and revamping our website and FB pages>>
- Continue to pray for Megan*, her husband Jared* and their teenage son Shawn*. They just seem so close now to praying to receive Christ. I think it would be wonderful if the whole family accepts Christ at the same time :) <<Ongoing.>>
- God would continue to work in the hearts of all the FLC Istudents that are drawn to us! <<Ongoing>>
- That we can find ways to accommodate each students busy schedule. They want to be at Talk Time and come to our events but they take their classes extremely serious. <<Ongoing. For the next semester>>
- I am still unsure if I should restart Talk Time at RCC. <<Ug. Next year?>>
Admonition
'Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.' Proverbs 31:8-9
