Highlights.
- One of the friends of our club president, that we have been praying for, accepted Christ!
- Our 2 Haiti students are now living with us. They are very considerate and respectful. They are very nervous about their future and will do anything to stay in the US. I did not realize the poverty of Haiti and how hard it is for them and their families. I know God will help me help them. Both of them got jobs at the FLC bookstore by the recommendation of one of our Indian students :).
- We all had a wonderful time ice skating for our Christmas party! Look at those happy faces above.
- The school gave us an extension of 3 weeks to come up with the $4,000 for next semesters tuition. We have about ~$2,000 right now so we will see. I am praying if God wants me to give more to 'save the day' or just trust Him to guide in another way. I have always believed 'where God guides, He provides.'
- We finished the year in the black again! We had just enough money to expense this month. God continues to 'provide all our needs according to His riches in glory.'
Lowlights.
- This 'feels' like a lowlight but it looks like we will miss the Jan 13 deadline to come up with $4,000 to make the first tuition payment for the Haiti boys. I say it 'feels' sad but it could just be God redirecting their paths and that He has something better for them.
Story 1 - Nosha*
I don't have the full story yet but Delta*, our club president, told me a week ago that one of her friends, Nosha*, became a Christian! Delta had invited her to her church and then invited her to go to Yosemite with our all-area club. One of my peers, Jerry, decided to take all the students to one of our sponsor churches outside of Yosemite on their trip back home. I was told Nosha* was eager to accept Christ when she heard the message from the pastor! She is a social worker, and I was just told she drove a couple hours out of her way, which she was not required to do, to go help one of her clients. I am not certain but I would bet anything it is beacuse of the Lord in her heart now.
Prayer Requests
- This whole effort to bring the 2 Haitian boys into our house, our lives! Many things need to be worked out that don't seem to have answers now. The $ for their schooling is just one of the challenges. Should we go through adult adoption? Should we hire an imigration attorney? What will their parents think about all this? Will my frontal lobe damage show a more terse, edgy side of me causing them to stumble? What sort of frustrations will we all encounter when we all start running into each other? Can I handle starving boys eating all my good food and leaving me with only kale? ;) <<Ongoing. Jan 13 is the deadline for their school tuition. I will need wisdom and grace to handle that day>>
- That God would use this special time of year when the awareness of Christ and His birth are floating in the airways so that both our Talk Times and Chrisitmas dinner for the students gives us the opportunity to share the message so that it goes even deeper into their hearts.<<Yes. Although, not as dramatic as I hoped, I was able to give a clear summary of what the real meaning of Christmas is>>
- For Megan*. That God would continue to show Himself to her and build on the experience she had with Him at Easter. That she would know for sure she has found the relationship with Him she desires. Pray for my wife to be able to follow-up with her soon and say the right things. <<Ongoing>> <<Her cousin is a Christian now and talking with her also!>>
- For Ana* and Zoey*. Like Megan* that God would start drawing them to Himself and making them aware of their need for Him. They are both great friends with Megan*. That perhaps Megans* seeking will inspire them to seek also. <<Ongoing. Ana has not been coming lately and I dont know why. Zoey and her daughter have been but we have not been able to share much with them this last month>>
- That we can start an Alpha club (Bible study) with the students that are interested in learning more about the Lord. <<Ongoing>>
- Many opportunities have arisen with more students, faculty, volunteers and churches connected with us- host families, greeting students at the airport when they arrive, weekly talk partners, Bible study, dinners, assisting the college... We certainly need wisdom to know what we can and cannot do, that the Lord will direct our steps.<<Ongoing. I need to involve our church sponsor more. Probably a meeting with them in early January would be best>>
