Highlights.
- Our bowling trip was a lot of fun! Especially for me, with that sweet 171 score! (see above) ;)
- The all-area monthly dinner was enjoyed by all, as well. We had almost ~100 students in attendance. Special thanks to Arcade Baptist church for hosting the dinner and for providing and cooking the food! :)
- Our all-area Fall Camp went perfectly, thanks to the Lord's restructuring some of the talks and games. There were a little over 40 in attendance. I spoke on 'how to treat outsiders' and just went verse by verse how Jesus brought the Samaritan woman to an understanding of her greatest need and then He disclosed Himself fully to her. It did rain incessantly but that turned out to be a blessing, as well, as it kept everyone close together.
- Another good turnout at our all-area monthly dinner. 3 students came from FLC and loved it!
- I went to my first FLC CAEB (Club and Events Board) since our club president had a conflict. It was good to meet all the club leaders from all the other clubs and invite them to our Halloween party.
- We now have 2 Indian students coming to the FLC Talk Time.
- I am saving lots of $ by buying frozen pizzas at Costco and then cooking them myself for each Talk Time. ;)
- 2 of my Istudents from Haiti are coming to BSF with me.
- I figured out how to easily create these cool little slideshows (and music) for our newsletter.
Lowlights.
- An FLC teacher and I had some minor conflict over an email. I know, silly. No hard feelings though.
Story 1 - Lari*
I spoke at the monthly all-area leadership meeting about God making both male and female and their differences. Two sisters from Malaysia really opened up and shared their heart about how distant their father was from them and their mother and asked how they could help him to stop focusing on his business and his accomplishments and focus on the relationships in his family. I just told them to be open and honest and tell him that they understand he is different as a man but he needs to understand his family has a much bigger need of him than just the success of his business.
Prayer Requests
- That God would heal the relationship between the 2 girls in our group. <<Yes>>
- Our Halloween party will be well attended and God will work in all we do to bring the students closer to knowing Him. <<Yes>>
- That God would give us fun in our bowling activity, many students would come and that more and more bonding and trust would take place.<<Yes!>>
- That the Lord would protect us from the 'schemes of the devil' and remove the 'suspicion' the one ESL teacher has about us and what we are doing. <<Yes>>
- That God would give me favor in the eyes of the FLC dean and ESL teachers as they consider me to run their computer lab. That God would confirm it, if in His wisdom, it is as great an opportunity as I think it is. <<Ongoing>>
- For Megan*. That God would continue to show Himself to her and build on the experience she had with Him at Easter. That she would know for sure she has found the relationship with Him she desires. Pray for my wife to be able to follow-up with her soon and say the right things.<<Ongoing>>
- For Ana* and Zoey*. Like Megan* that God would start drawing them to Himself and making them aware of their need for Him. They are both great friends with Megan*. That perhaps Megans* seeking will inspire them to seek also. <<Ongoing>>
- That we can start an Alpha club (Bible study) with the students that are interested in learning more about the Lord. <<Ongoing>>
- Many opportunities have arisen with more students, faculty, volunteers and churches connected with us- host families, greeting students at the airport when they arrive, weekly talk partners, Bible study, dinners, assisting the college... We certainly need wisdom to know what we can and cannot do, that the Lord will direct our steps.<<Ongoing>>
- That I can naturally apply the 6 evangelistic steps Jesus modeled in sharing with the Samaritan woman-
1. Win their confidence. 2. Awaken a desire for spiritual life in them. 3. Explain why His life is better than emptiness. 4. Probe sensitively about their deepest need and hurts. That they would see their need for His life, for forgiveness. 5. Help them understand how God sees them and what He desires of them. 6. Finally, reveal Christ to them and that 'He stands at the door of their heart' and is knocking right now.
